Broward County Optimises Use of Water Resources by Assessment of Surface and Groundwater Resources

Since the 1990’s Broward County has worked on the development of a county wide water resources plan and an Integrated Water Resources Master Management Plan (IWRMMP). Broward County selected MIKE SHE and MIKE 11 software to develop three integrated surface water and groundwater models addressing water issues in the northern, central and southern part of Broward County. The three models have later been combined and improved to provide an integrated model addressing all of the urban areas of the county. As part of the IWRMMP, DHI has worked with Broward County to evaluate the effect of a number of alternative surface and groundwater supply projects.
