Integrated Pipes, Channels and Surface Modelling This 3-day course aims at enabling you to develop a 2D overland flow model followed by 3-way coupling with a 1D river model (MIKE 11) and a 1D urban model (MIKE URBAN). The fully integrated approach ensures accurate representation of the flow dynamics in urban areas. All aspects of flow interactions are taken into account: pipe network/surface, surface/open channels as well as open channels/pipe network. The course is designed for professionals such as modelling practitioners, engineers and professionals involved in flood management, flood risk assessment and other flood related studies including flood plain dynamics. It is a prerequisite that participants are familiar with MIKE 11 HD and MIKE URBAN CS. Topics - Overview of the MIKE FLOOD modelling system
- Introduction to 2D overland flow modelling with MIKE 21
- Topographical data handling including building urban bathymetries
- Preparing MIKE URBAN models for coupling with MIKE 21
- Preparing MIKE 11 models for coupling with MIKE 21
- MIKE FLOOD graphical editor; coupling of 1D and 2D models; 1D-2D linkage options
- Stability issues
- Tips and troubleshooting with model coupling
- Results viewing and presentation (animations, flood maps, time series, etc)
- Detailed walk-through of MIKE FLOOD model examples
- Hands-on exercises
